What concerns me about the shingles vaccine is, isn't it only a year or two old? So often, one sees medicines that have major problems that only show up after they have been out in the world for a year or more. Is a vaccine safer that way than a regular medication? Thank you.
I had shingles about 3 years ago, my first outbreak and it was terrible. Gads ! Anyhow, about 8 months later the vaccine came out and I got a shot. The doc said I couldnt get it if within 30 days of an outbreak, and that it had a 50% probablility of working during the initial tests. That was good enough for me, and (knock on wood) so far it has worked perfectly. !!! Apparently anything you do to strengthen your immune system (vitamins, antioxidants, supplements etc)also helps you resist an occurance.
