Swine Flu Update

Hi Joe,
I agree that people should be taking high doses of vitamin D to protect against the ill effects of swine flu. However, based on my analysis of data from the U.S. during the 1918-19 pandemic influenza, vitamin D only protected against the bacterial pneumonia that followed the flu. There was no evidence that vitamin D reduced the risk of contracting the flu. Case-fatality rates in 12 US cities were inversely proportional to both summertime and wintertime solar UVB. I have a manuscript nearly ready for submission.
Best regards,
